Frequently asked questions

Before your first class

I have never done yoga. Can I come?

Yes. Start with Beginner Heated Vinyasa if you can, though any All Levels class is fine. Tell me it is your first time and I will keep an eye on you.

How hot is the room?

Up to 26°C, and beginner and Yin classes are kept a little cooler. Warm enough that you will sweat within a few minutes. If it becomes too much, sit down and breathe. That is a completely normal thing to do and nobody will think anything of it.

How many people are in a class?

Classes are capped at 20. There are no mirrors in the main studio, because the practice is about how a posture feels rather than how it looks.

What should I bring?

Water, a yoga mat and a sweat towel, and clothes you can move and sweat in. Mats are available to rent or buy in the studio.

Is there somewhere to change or shower?

No. There is a space for your belongings, but no changing facilities and no showers, so come dressed to practise.

When should I arrive?

Ten minutes early for your first class, five after that. Doors close as the class begins so we do not disturb anyone.

Can I eat beforehand?

Not a heavy meal. Leave a couple of hours if you can, and drink plenty of water during the day rather than all at once before class.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancel at least 12 hours before the class starts and your class credit is returned. So for a 6pm class, that means by 6am the same day. Later than that, or not turning up, counts as a late cancellation and the class is charged or the credit deducted. The full detail is in the cancellation policy, and if something unexpected happens, tell me and I will look at it.

Do I need to fill anything in before my first class?

Yes. Everyone completes a short health declaration before their first class, which asks about medical conditions, injuries, medication and pregnancy. It takes a couple of minutes and it means I can keep an eye on the right things. You can download it and bring it filled in, or do it here before the class.

Tell me too if anything changes later, a new injury, a pregnancy, a change of medication. It matters more in a heated room than it would elsewhere.
